The Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) recognizes as Local Affiliates local historical organizations and societies that meet specific criteria (mainly an open membership and incorporation with IRS 501(c)(3) status).

They are provided support services by the WHS through the Wisconsin Council for Local History, a separately incorporated affiliate of the WHS.
