Prefatory note: "As we prepare to put together Up Close and Personal--Profile Book Vol. II, we thought our readers might enjoy a preview. The story of Sonny and Franes Herrick, written in 1996, is one that will be included."

The following paragraph is of interest to Star Lake:

Frances [Foster] was raised on Fish Trap Lake in Boulder Junction. Her paternal grandmother was a widow living in Minnesota when her son, Jesse [Foster], came to Star Lake to work in a lumber camp. He was just 14 years of age. He liked the area, moved his mother and brothers, Frank [Foster] and Harold there. His mother found work cooking at the local hotel. Eventually she became postmaster at the town of Oxley, and later became the first postmaster in Boulder Junction.

"As a young man, my father, Frank Foster, loved to play cards and one time he won a resort in Boulder in a poker game. He soon gave it back though and it later became the YMCA Camp," Frances [Foster Herrick] remembered.
